The sector's challenges to advance in the consolidation of energy consolidation of energy security

Exploration, mainly focused on hydrocarbons, has given us a solid base to advance towards a new phase of discoveries, where the search for alternative energy sources in the subsoil has become one of the sector's priorities to advance in the country's energy transition, for example, the potential of geothermal energy, a resource that can generate electricity from the heat of hydrothermal fluids.

White or natural hydrogen promises to revolutionize the decarbonization of transportation. However, unraveling its underground origin and mastering its storage will require monumental efforts and major investments.

This is where geological knowledge becomes our most powerful ally, opening up new alternatives for innovation. From storing CO2 in depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs to exploring the possibility of converting old salt mines into hydrogen deposits.

I invite you to discuss these issues on May 29, 30 and 31, 2024 in Santa Marta. Let us participate in the consolidation of the energy transition.
